Lavern Elliott
Lavern Elliot, a native New Mexican whose ancestral heritage includes a Great-grandmother who was full blood Cherokee, has pursued art on many levels. She works in all media, including pottery and sculpture but watercolor and acrylic are her favorites. In thirty years of being a professional artist, she has studied the customs of the Indian tribes throughout the United States and hopes to preserve and share these customs through the 200 plus prints she has published. Elliott has been featured in Artist of New Mexico, New Mexico Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, served on the Visual Arts Council of Eastern New Mexico, was the featured artist of the 1988 issue of Sidesaddle magazine published by the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. The original of her Cherokee Trail of Tears hangs in the Cherokee Historical Museum in South Carolina. Her paintings enhance the walls of many prominent businesses and private homes throughout |

the United States and twelve foreign countries, as well as thirty paintings in the Marbridge Foundation of Austin Texas. She and her husband are now semi-retired and living in Rio Rancho, New Mexico close to family. |
