In Love and Light
Marian Boandl

Hello, I am Marian Boandl (bon-del). I am second generation daughter from Cardiff-by-the-Sea in San Diego County. As a child in the 30s and 40s my parents taught me to 'see' the vital and natural beauty on country drives and along the Pacific seashore. Surrounded by eucalyptus-covered sand cliffs, citrus orchards, and vineyards, inlets of the see -- there was no end of sun-filled beauty. I have travelled, with a camera, extensively. I began painting in Mass. at the age of 50. Joseph and I retired to Albuquerque in 1990. I've widened my scope of interest in artistic painting and photographic endeavors, and I've learned to appreciate and capture the natural light, shadow, and design that I have naturally recognized for years. My major interests are in capturing, in my paintings and photography, animals, birds, homes, European and Southwest architecture, plus scenes of the sea as we travel and here in our own 'enchanted land'.

I am a member of the Bear Canyon Senior Art Group since 1992; I am presently an assistant art teacher once a week. I initiated and assisted setting up an art gallery for fine arts for four classes in 2007. I rehang all every two months. I also hang in the gallery; for two months I hung oils, with the Art Group and Albuquerque Admin. Office for Senior Affairs. Since 2002 I have participated in the Bear Canyon Arts and Craft Show, and have assisted in regenerating this show in Nov. 2008 as the Oso Canyon Art Fest.

Since 2006 I have been the President of the Nor Este Art Association, and have created a Show book of our 30 - 40 artists with biographies and photos of their works, and keep it updated. I am assisted with hanging our present shows, and have participated in shows at the Albuquerque Art League, the Press Club, three Wick's Restaurants, the American Veteran's Art Exhibit, at the Jewish Community Center for three years, Four Hills Country Club for four years, and Chamisa Hills Country Club in 2008. In 2002 I joined the Rio Rancho art Association, where I interview and write monthly artist profiles for their newsletter. I also created and update a Show Book for their 150 or so artists. We hang in many excellent venues monthly.

In 2005 I began showing, once a year, at the Mansano Mesa Multi-generation Center's "Marketplace with an Artitude" for pre-Christmas time, as I had at three All Faith's Receiving home Auxiliary's Apple and Arts Festivals. I have been donating photos, and have a perpetual show of my photos at the New Mexico BioPark Society, as well as a tithe "People Living Through Cancer" on Candelaria Blvd, Albuquerque. At this time I have not only been showing my oils but also my delightful photographs at all my presentations.  In 2006 I volunteered at an organization of NM women who are talented artists who are surviving breast cancer. We have come together to assist others who face breast cancer or now bear the scars and look to the future. The name chosen for this group is "On Borrowed Time". In 2006 I volunteered and hung my work and those of other artists in this group at the office of the Breast Imaging Center on Jefferson lane. Through BIC I have been a photographer for the last four years at the Anita Salas Educational Events, "Beauty and the Breast" seminars, health fair, and art exhibit.
